A Regency Girandole Mirror

England
Circa 1815

This beautiful Regency girandole mirror is topped with a hippocampus perched on an outcropping of rocks. Elegantly carved foliage with grape clusters adorns the sides of the mirror frame. Four winding candle arms with leaf decoration end in brass candle cups above glass prism holders. Paired scrolls of vines with grape clusters are attached below the mirror. The original convex mirror is surrounded by a black painted liner. Covering the mirror frame is an overall diaper pattern. The original gilding is in very fine condition with burnished gilt highlights.
