A Classical Table-top Desk
					Boston, Massachusetts
							Circa 1820

This elegant table-top desk is beautifully made. When the drawer is opened, the half-cylinder tambour mechanism is engaged and opens to reveal compartments for writing accoutrements. The slant lid is veneered in crotch mahogany and the writing surface on the inside appears to retain its original thin green baize. The drawers are finished with stamped brass pulls with their original gilt-lacquered finishes.
