Parian ~ Prodigal Son
England
Circa 1850
Copeland
After the marble sculpture of W. Theed, this work is marked COPELAND. An extraordinary statuary porcelain with two embracing figures illustrates the Prodigal Son’s return. The details of the robes, faces, hands, feet, and hair are deftly accomplished. Inspired by The Parable of the Lost Son from the Bible, the narrative is found in Luke 15:11 – 32. The words FATHER I HAVE SINNED have been cast in the mold and may be read on the base.
