Parian ~ Isaac & Rebekah

England
Circa 1850
Wedgwood

This parian figural group depicts Isaac greeting Rebekah. The rich details evoke the interests of the era in ancient civilizations. Minute attention was given to the figures, the hands and faces, clothing, jewelry, camel, and its ornamentation.

William Beattie was a versatile modeler and sculptor who exhibited at the RA, BI, and RSA (1829-1864). About 1850, he worked for several of the factories designing models for parian production.
