Pair Suspended Argands

England
Circa 1825

This pair of colza chandeliers are presented in an overall patinated finish. Within the stop fluted covers are concealed fonts. The brackets which are adorned with female classical masks are connected to the cast link and ring chains by well articulated snakes. A stamped brass band surrounds the body of the lamp. The arm decoration, classical maiden masks, and stamped band relate to details found on a pair of torchere argands by Perry & Company.

Reference: See inventory item D1011 for a pair of Perry & Company torchere argands with nearly identical details.
