Neoclassical Easy Chair

New York
Circa 1815

This elegant easy chair is of the distinctive New York form. Underneath the upholstery, this chair follows other New York examples in having straight wings constructed of solid sides. The elegant turned front legs have their original ferrules and casters with gilt lacquer finishes. The chair has been covered a chrome yellow harateen by Scalamandre in period appropriate upholstery techniques. A very similar New York easy chair is in the collection at Boscobel.
