A Regency Sinumbra

England
Circa 1825

This unusual and exotic Regency lamp is fashioned by using naturalistic elements. The standard of the lamp is cast to represent a trunk of a tree which has had its branches closely lopped. The depiction of bark allows the lamp to have a distinguishing texture. The excitement of the design is further enhanced by a gilt snake coiling around the trunk. All of this is complemented by a beautiful period shade with elongated cutting.
