A Regency Sinumbra
England
Circa 1825
This elegant figural sinumbra depicts Nike, the Greek goddess of Victory. The beautiful two-tone gilt-lacquered finish distinguishes the lamp as a fine example of Regency lighting. The outstretched arms support a basket holding clusters of grapes while the plinth is adorned with swags of grape leaves centering grape clusters. The lamp is completed by a fine frosted and cut glass shade.
