A Regency Argand

England
Circa 1820

This Regency two-light argand lamp is distinguished by its towering height and the fact that the lamp is one of the earliest argand forms. It is beautifully presented in a patinated and gilt lacquered finish. The large font is fluted and encircled by a Greek key band. The uprights that compose the standard are topped with lions’ heads holding rings and are supported by lions’ feet. The bands on the base have engine turned decoration.
