A Regency Argand

England
Circa 1815

Tall and elegant, this Regency lamp is one of the earliest argand forms. It is beautifully presented in a patinated and gilt-lacquered finish. The font is fluted and surrounded by a Greek key band. The uprights that compose the standard are topped with rams’ heads holding rings and are supported by rams’ feet. The bands on the base have engine turned decoration.
