A Pair of Regency Two-Light Argands

England
Circa 1820
Johnston Brookes and Company

This pair of elegant Regency argand lamps have survived with almost all their original two-tone gilt-lacquered finishes intact. In addition, they have never been  electrified. The cut glass fonts are topped with finials and support cast prism rings. Beautifully cast foliate decorations are attached to the feeder tubes. Each hub displays an attached brass tag which reads: JOHNSTON BROOKES / & Co / MANUFACTURER / LONDON. Cut glass prism rings are placed below the hubs. Finely detailed with die-cast decorations, gilt-lacquered collars and bases separate the two additional cut glass components of the bases.
