A Pair of Portraits

This large pair of portraits depicts an elegant couple in their best finery sitting on a Classical sofa dating to about 1835. The sofa is veneered in a fancy crotch mahogany veneer displaying a polished finish. The lady wears a lace bonnet with bows and rosebuds and her dark dress is framed by her lace shawl. The gentleman wears a dark brown coat and a black satin vest and tie. Large gilded frames hold the paintings.
