A Pair of French Sinumbras
France
Circa 1825
This elegant pair of French sinumbras have characteristics that distinguish them from English models. Their frosted and etched shades sit within the fonts instead of on top. Never electrified, the burners retain their distinctive decorative chimney holders. The French tanks have a flat shape and fit into the standard using a bayonet fitting. A patinated stamped brass gallery rests over the edge of each font. The elegant standards are presented in a patinated finish with gilt highlights. The three-sided bases are appointed with swans and are raised on cast foliate feet.
