A Grand Tour Painting

Probably Italian
Circa 1850

This beautiful painting is reminiscent of what is often referred to as a Grand Tour painting. Similar paintings would be purchased by travelers touring Europe who might buy a painting and bring it home as a souvenir of their trip. Sometimes the painting might be framed after the return home. This unrestored painting depicts a possibly idealized harbor scene with buildings, boats, and fishermen.
