A French Tole Urn

This beautiful tole urn is skillfully painted using Classical motifs. The ground color is a rich red with gold details. Silver painted anthemion are framed with gilt outlines to create a wide border at the top. A Classical warrior is depicted in the center of the front side. Tall gilt leaves create a border at the bottom of the urn. A molding finished in gold leaf surrounds the urn above a black painted plinth that suggests slate. The urn retains its original tin liner.
