A Classical Work Table

Boston, Massachusetts
Circa 1825

The surfaces of this handsome table are covered in beautiful book matched veneers. The ends are composed of pairs of Doric columns centering lyres with five brass strings. The saber legs are finished with brass paw toe caps and casters. In each drawer, the compartments are topped by lids covered in original green leather with gilt tooling. A fine silk is used to upholster the outside of the bag while the original marblized wallpaper completes the inside.
