A Classical Sofa Table

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Circa 1835

This splendid table features richly figured mahogany veneers and stunning “Egyptian” marbles. A related example bears the label of Richard Parkin showing his address at Egyptian Hall, 134 South Second Street, where he operated a cabinet shop from 1835-1840. It has been stated that this building was owned by cabinet maker Joseph B. Barry.
