A Classical Lantern

American
Circa 1825

Recently removed from a house in Salem, Massachusetts, this beautiful Classical lantern’s glass was probably made by either the Sandwich or New England Glass Company. In addition to its unique cylindrical form, the glass is cut in a stunning circle within a square pattern. A stamped foliate patterned ring holds the glass and the fixture retains its original smoke bell and rectangular shaped links for the chain.
