A Classical Hall Lantern

Probably American
Circa 1825
Attributed to Sandwich Glass Company or New England Glass Company

Because of its large size and fine quality, this beautiful hall lantern stands out among similar examples. The frosted and cut glass shade is executed with rows of circles within squares. The smoke bell exhibits the proper roll-over edge. All stamped brass elements holding the glass are presented in a patinated finish. A cast leaf pattern embellishes the ventilator and cast articulated leaves serve as the hooks for the chains.
