A Classical Games Table

The tops of this beautiful table are veneered in highly figured crotch mahogany veneers with applied rounded moldings. Book matched mahogany veneers adorn the apron rail and carved brackets scroll at the ends. The tapering pillar is covered in mahogany veneer and features a carved collar of egg and dart carving. The plinth has incurvate sides and the whole is raised on feet carved in the fashion of Isaac Vose. This table is featured extensively in Robert D. Mussey Jr. and Clark Pearce’s Rather Elegant Than Showy The Classical Furniture of Isaac Vose in FIG. 310, 317, 318, and 319.
