A Classical Center Table
Boston, Massachusetts
Circa 1825
This handsome Classical center table is topped by a beautifully veined Egyptian marble. A conforming apron is covered in crotch mahogany veneers and applied moldings. The substantial tapering standard rests on a three-sided plinth with concave sides. The table is supported by three large foliate-carved scrolled feet on concealed cast iron casters. All of these elements combine to create a quintessential Classical Boston form.
