A Classical Bureau

New York
October 1823
Michael Allison

Made in New York City, this fine bureau retains the label of cabinetmaker Michael Allison. The label indicates a work date of October 1823. A well constructed piece, the drawers are beautifully veneered with figured mahogany. The case is adorned with foliate carving and reeded pilasters on pleasingly turned feet. Rarely does one find a Classical example with an Allison label.
