A Cityscape of Florence

This beautiful nineteenth century gouache depicts a cityscape of Florence. Wide landscape depictions such as this one are rarely encountered. The painting appears to have its original ebonized and gilt frame. Dotting the picture are statues, fountains, and figures walking and on horseback. A few of the recognizable landmarks are the Florence Cathedral, the Signoria Square, and the Palazzo Vecchio.
